Description: Read it or die.

0) What is Azumanga Daioh and where can find it?
Azumanga Daioh is a fun and innocent anime series based in the manga of the same name by Kiyohiko Azuma. It's about a group of girls passing through high school dealing with normal problems and situations. No outer-space menaces, demons, or tentacles, just life.
It has been licenced by ADV and probably can be found in your favorite anime store or in a online store like Amazon.

1) After watching the series I was completely baffled by the music and now I'm searching it. Where can I find it?
The OST can be found in some online stores or in your nearer import shop. Now, if you want to pirate the music you can download it over the internet, using any good P2P software, like Soulseek or Shareaza and search for Azumanga Daioh. As last resource, there are some sites that offer mp3 rotations like Sata Andagi! where the songs are changing continously over the time.

2) I have heard of a game where you can control Osaka. Is it true?. Is there any other Azumanga game?
For the first question: No. It's not a game but a interactive screensaver named "Kasuga Ayumu's Mail-order Life" or Osaka Simulator. The fun of it doesn't last more than 5 minutes and the download is 100MB. If after reading that you still want to download it, go ahead. Try searching in this thread for download spots or use any good P2P software, like Soulseek or Shareaza and search for Osaka or Osaka Simulator, normally is the only result.

Aside from that screensaver, there are many other games based in Azumanga Daioh being many of them fanmade, like a snowbattle one named Azutama with Osaka and Chiyo as playable characters, a voleyball game named Azubeach and a racing game. All of them have been named, searched and found by members at this thread. Also, you can find them at any good P2P network.

3) I REALLY dislike/like a character. Where can I post about them?
Livejournal.com

4) But.. but.. that's rude :(. I meant in the forum.
There are some threads dedicated exclusively to that type of posts.

Favourite character?
Soo... Who's your LEAST favorite girl?...
what WOULD you do with your azu girl on a date?

5) I need pictures of [character]! / I have many pictures of the lovely [character]. Where can I find/post them?
For specific characters try any of this threads.

Osaka pics thread
Kagura Pix Thread
Yomi picture thread
Tomo pics Thread
Chiyo Chichi pics thread

For more general pictures you may try the azu pics thread

Or you could search in google.

6) I'm so sad since I saw the last episode of Azumanga Daioh :(. Are there any plans for a second season?
The consesus is no, based in what we, forum members, have read in the internet but the second season idea is not discarded unless Azuma himself says so. If you want to discuss about what this second season you could try the following threads:
Which 2nd series idea would you want?
It can't be OVER!, Is there really no more?

7) I recently saw Battle Royale and I had this original and awesome idea of making a crossover with Azumanga Daioh. Who do you think that would win?

As far as Battle Royale goes, the forum has already discussed this. Chiyo-Chan's father would appear, kill the BR Officials with his lazer eye beams, and then fly everyone back to Japan safe and sound. (Kudos to SwordKing)

8)I saw this AWESOME flash and I feel that I HAVE to post about it and share it with you. Have you seen these? *insert flash link here*

Probably yes, so don't post about them. There have been multiple threads about flash movies with the Azumanga theme, specially this ones:
http://www.geocities.co.jp/Athlete-Rodos/2132/azu_life.swf
http://www.andrew.cmu.edu/user/dtlin/flash...ss-azumanga.swf
http://takureihp.hp.infoseek.co.jp/mikomikodaiou%20Ver2.swf 404
http://www.transbuddha.com/osaka/osakaphone.html

9)I got a cd with Azumanga music but all the song names are in Japanese! There's any way to identify the songs or the cd?

Sure, there's a couple of posts made by Matt that name OSTs and other cds. At the moment there is no list for the Character CDs but those are easy enough to identify by yourself.
OST 1
OST 2
Tribute to Azumanga Daioh & Utaimasho! (Let's Sing!)

10) I've heard of this short clip called "Azumanga Web Daioh". Where can I find it? Was it included on the DVDs with the Very Short Movie?

Azumanga Web Daioh was a short trailer made to go on the official Japanese website prior to the release of the series. The official link is long gone, and it was not licensed by ADV so it is not included in the American DVD release.

Fortunately, a kind soul found it and uploaded it to a streaming video site. The thread with links can be found here: Azumanga Web Daioh

Kyle, whatever would we do without you?

Answer: We would wade endlessly through threads of chaos and confusion that cause dull, throbbing head pain.

motorola_otaku - November 7, 2004 08:12 AM (GMT)
I'd include a short paragraph about "What is Azumanga Daioh", maybe about PMing certain members for games and music, but other than that, perfect. :D

I'll hope not to use this thread too much in the future though (but I probably will end up so anyways... -_-)

Didn't want to start a seperate thread, so here it goes.

How can I tell if my Azu CD is legit or bootleg?

Some of you may have seen the Azumanga soundtrack CDs on Ebay or other online stores and may have wondered "Is this a legitimate CD? It looks good." The answer is simple.

Lantis Records and Geneon Music hav the exclusive right to press and distribute Azumanga CDs. Additionally, Lantis has exclusive right to all Oranges & Lemons music. They will always put their logo on the CD insert, as well as the spine cover. If you don't see the Lantis or Geneon logo somewhere on the CD, it's a bootleg. Plain and simple.

Another good way to tell is the price. If the CD in question is in the $8-$14 price range, it's most likely a bootleg. If it's in the $20-$30 range, it's most likely legitimate. This isn't always true, however; the only sure-fire way to tell is by looking for the Lantis logo.

Examples:

Bootleg CD:

Legitimate CD (Lantis):

Legitimate CD (Geneon - Azumanga Vocal Collection):

Note how the artwork is virtually identical, but the legit CD has a small Lantis logo in the upper right-hand corner, as well as on the bottom of the spine cover.

Hope this helps you in your search for Azu music. I'm not arguing for or against bootlegs, just trying to help folks make an informed purchase. ^_^

Note: at this time (Sep. 2005), only the Azumanga Vocal collection is available through Geneon. While this is sure to change, for the time being it is the only Azu CD licensed for North American retail sale.

*Shock and Horror*

The MikomikoDaioh and the Princess Azumanga flashes are down! *Gasp* Might want to find an alternate link.

Kiyohiko Azuma (the creator of Azumanga Daioh, Yotsubato!, and others) has a homepage, which can be found here. (note: Japanese only)

This actually works better as an addition to the FAQ, so here it goes. :)

Also, post editied to remove stupidity.

edit: bootleg CD FAQ updated. I went looking for an image of the actual CD itself on Ebay, and all they have right now are bootlegs.
