Title: Random Azumanga Questions
Description: What episode? What song? etc

osakaki - March 20, 2006 04:41 AM (GMT)
Use this thread to ask random questions pertaining to Azumanga Daioh that don't really deserve a thread of their own.

"What episode did this happen in?", "What song is this?" and the like all belong in here.

That happened in episode 25, the episode where the girls are studying for their college entrance exams.

In the manga, volume 3, Tomo invents something called "the rolling defense" and what looks like on 151, she actulay gets run over by a car. what happened there? did she actualy get run over?

And also... What was the name of the school the girl go to? And in what city is it located?

sataandagi - February 7, 2007 11:54 PM (GMT)

It was never actually stated in either the manga or anime. Think of it as kind of an Anycity, Any Prefecture, Japan setting. Same goes for the school; it's just a generic representation of schools all over Japan.

Sideswiped by a mirror, if memory serves. The Rolling Defence was supposed to be a technique to redirect the lateral force into rotational (or such), but had the unfortunate side effect that the induced dizziness might cause one to wander into further traffic.

Or something; this is based on old memories, after all.

Not that this answer's likely to be read, but at least I got to use the word "sideswiped". ^^

tokyo?

cvn-tv-dip - February 9, 2007 04:57 AM (GMT)
There are hints that it's Tokyo (like how this anime is supposed to depict typical Japanese culture in a simple slice of life). I think Wikipedia said that it's Tokyo, also.

d-d-d-double post!!

sowwiee :P

MasterDaioh - February 10, 2007 04:15 PM (GMT)
I think it was somewhere around the area of Tokyo too, the neighborhood suggests it.

How can I tell if an Azu plushie is a bootleg? I bought a Chiyo one at AN, and it does bug me a little. But hey, I'm not gonna lose sleep over it.

motorola_otaku - May 28, 2007 05:09 PM (GMT)
First off, no one should be selling bootlegs of anything at a convention. If they are, your con's staff sucks. They also don't care much for their sponsors because if any of the big-name companies like Bandai or ADV find out that they let vendors sell bootleg stuff, they'll drop their sponsorship.

Go back and look at some of The Enforcer's collection pics. His are 100% legit, and you'll know right off if yours isn't because it'll look way off.

I just did. It appears to be legit, but I'd like a Chiyo kimono plush pic just to be safe.

The Enforcer - May 30, 2007 02:57 AM (GMT)
After comparing lauscho's Chiyo plushie (in picture form of course) with the one I own, I hearby declare that lauscho's plushie is in fact, legit. *gavel*

I was able to easily purchase things that no minor should possess at Otakon last year.
