Not sure if this has been said before, I searched for a topic and didn't see any. I apologize if it has.
Anyways, the Azumanga Daioh manga is being released with all four volumes in one in English soon, by ADV of course.
It's set to be released November 7th in one handy 686 page book, for $25 (or $16.49 from Amazon)
Here it is.I know I'll be buying it when it comes out! =D
motorola_otaku - September 29, 2007 10:35 PM (GMT)
Well, I would say that their time would be be better spent catching up on Yotsuba and Gunslinger Girl, but I see they already have! Hooray! :D

Well, it's been out for a week now. I managed to snag a copy, and I gotta say, it's... thick.
...Really thick... o.o

Mabye i should pick this up. Granted i have the original 4 volumes, i have had to by them each twice because they got destroyed over time more than any other manga in my 1000+ collection. It could be good to have this back up.
tedbannana - November 14, 2007 07:57 AM (GMT)
i'll probably buy it for a friend, because i already have it in my tiny tiny manga collection.
its at a really good price though.
charliepanayi - November 14, 2007 08:07 PM (GMT)
It's a small thing but I'm glad in this new omnibus edition they've fixed the whole business in early volume 1 of Miss Yukari being a Spanish teacher in the translation before they changed her to being an English one. Now she teaches English from the start.
Mr Egonga - November 14, 2007 09:55 PM (GMT)
I wish there was a bit more Azumanga merchandise on Amazon. A calander for the new year would be hugely appreciated.
MasterDaioh - November 14, 2007 10:10 PM (GMT)
It's like 4 books, in one! Should I still buy this even though I already have the original 4? Let me know if it has any special features.
Paste - November 16, 2007 02:52 AM (GMT)
There are no bonuses or anything, but for $25, it's worth it just to have it in your collection.
Mr Egonga - November 16, 2007 08:34 PM (GMT)
I could use the new book to lure unsuspecting friends into my Azumanga hobby.

It has the special feature of not having to choose which volume to pack with you on a trip! :aha:

Okay, I will admit. That's definitely absurd as far as coincidences go...

His second pic is. The cover art is new.. I'd guess it's recycled magazine art or something like that.

I have all the original Japanese ones, but I kinda want to buy these English ones. But, I really don't need to...but one thing I was really curious about was if Yukari does teach English or Spanish. I'm glad she is teaching English in the manga. I think in the dubs(from what I have heard, she teaches Spanish), Yukari should have just taught Japanese.
motorola_otaku - April 7, 2008 05:59 AM (GMT)
Yukari teaching espanol was purely ADV's doing. In the original versions, she teaches English.

Funny how that thing is almost the size of a dictionary!(seriously)
I only have volumes 2-3, but within a few weeks, i'll have them all(and probably that 4-in-1, even though i'll have them all the volumes already)
amrak63 - July 7, 2008 08:08 AM (GMT)
I bought the omnibus volume a few months ago, also at my local Waldenbooks.
I found the translators' notes included in the volume quite helpful. :yomi:

Expecially when you didn`t get a joke or two!
amrak63 - July 21, 2008 07:52 AM (GMT)
Yeah, I probably could have figured out some things like "radio exercises", but I had no idea who Nurikabe and Karakasa are, or the significance of the hawk, the eggplant, and Fujiyama.

Even if you didn't know the meaning, you still probably laughed because it just came out of nowhere :P
I know I did :D
